I flew SW once in 2017 with 3 young kids. It was so stressful. I paid extra $ to check in early but didnt help. I was so stressed! NEVER AGAIN! I never went back. It’s no cheaper than other airlines.

Because u made one res they had to give u 6 consecutive boarding #s to stay together / make 2 res of 3 to get higher or have 2 members try to buy way up to high A and save seats for everyone else

I have 4 kids.. When we fly as a family, we choose an airline where we can book seats together. Couldn’t even imagine choosing to chance that and hope for the best

The other scam is very short layovers, and if your 1st flight is late, even if you make connecting flight, you’re sitting in a middle seat and gate checking your carry on even if A-1

You’re better off purchasing main cabin seats on an airline like delta. Costs more than economy but your seat is guaranteed

If you’re B7 there’s no way you can’t all sit together even if it’s in the back of the plane. 5 of us went to Disneyland B37 and still sat together.

I like Southwest. An airline with reserved seats would have been better for you. My wife and I usually fly Southwest and almost always get to sit together.

It does say in the fine print that even with early bird you’re not guaranteed A boarding. I’ve never gotten C, but I’ve gotten B many times after paying extra.

I agree airlines have become too aggressive in charging for everything. However, i would never fly SW if i need to be certain i was seated w/children. I know how SW works as far as seating, no thanks

This happened to me coming back from Florida to Nashville! Our tickets ended up being $2,000 for two people. We got B31-32, AND FORTY. YES FORTY FAMILIES BORDED BEFORE US! I had to sit next to a kid.

We paid for early boarding leaving from Fort Lauderdale a week ago and got B27 and B28. I understand your frustration in that you pay the extra fee but then have those who have not paid board before.

Until your kids can be separated from you I always paid more on AA or Delta. Not worth starting Vaca stressed & mad. Hope you had a nice trip!

I pay for upgrade to early bird check in when I fly SW with one or both of my kids. always get high number in A group, and always sit together.

It is how early you bought the tickets. Also, people get priority boarding and don’t pay for early board if they are A list.. 🥺
