I remember the eclipse in the 70s. We were outside with the teacher building an apparatus with boxes and paper etc. To watch its reflection on the paper. We were told not to look a it or we'd go blind

in the 70's we went to the other side of the school with classrooms facing the opposite side. the side facing the eclipse had construction paper on the windows. we attended school. lol

Haven't heard anyone say to take cover, just to be safe if you want to look at it. As someone who is in a school often, it's hard to trust them to follow directions properly.
