Replying to @Louise_bee It’s commonly said that avoidants never take accountability. While I agree with this statement, I also believe that this doesn’t apply to all avoidants entirely Attachment Styles exist on a spectrum, and making sweeping generalizations of an entire group is limiting. Often there are factors bigger than us as people that prevent someone with severe attachment wounds from taking accountability. To help avoidants heal, we mustn’t shame them to get therapy. Rather, we should encourage them to grow and lead with curiosity when their wounds come up. This same should be applied to all insecure attachment styles equally. How did we as a society go from shaming people who were actively in therapy, to now shaming people into getting therapy? This is why concepts like “tough love” don’t often encourage internal growth as any changes in behaviour are usually done out of fear of consequences. Tough love has been studied and proven to be an outdated concept and does not promote healing within. A simple Google search can show you this in less than a tenth of a second. Anyone that encourages tough love should reconsider this approach and mindset because people are often too good at the “tough” part, and fail at the “love” part due to a lack of empathy #toughlove #avoidant #avoidantattachment #dismissiveavoidant #avoidantattachmentstyle #fearfulavoidant #fearfulavoidantattachment #anxiousattachment #anxiousattachmentstyle #attachmentstyleawareness #therapy #healing #HealingJourney
