@principal_lamb: It’s unfair to expect our teachers to grade all their papers, prepare their upcoming lessons and correspond with parents and then give them no time to do it. Teacher planning and prep time should happen everyday. When we take away teacher planning, we leave our educators with two options: 1. Don’t do the work. 2. Take work home. It’s a lose-lose scenario. If we want to keep our teachers in our schools we can’t take their non-teaching time for granted. What do you think about our team’s operating norms to preserve teacher planning? Let me know in the comments! #teachersoftiktok #teacherfyp #principalsoftiktok
We also shouldn’t be expected to do all of that during un paid personal time outside of working hours.

The reason there's a teacher shortage is a crushing work load and poor support.

As a sub who did long term, I had planning time taken from me. I had to use my 40 minute meeting time to collaborate at the start of the day before students get there to plan😡

How about cutting bi-monthly behavior grades that affect nothing and weekly spreadsheets for the same answers. At the upper grades, especially English, that period of planning time is NEVER enough.

Just curious… when do teachers meet for iEPS? What about faculty meetings? And my least favorite thing that takes my planning time-PLC’s. Ugh.

I’m genuinely curious- When do teachers attend PLC, ARDS, 504’s, SST’s, or behavior meetings?

I love your content! I am wondering- as a school nurse- do you assist them in the same manner? Making sure they have the support, time, help and supplies to their job properly? How? Thanks!

What do y’all do for your paraprofessionals, do they get a break other than a 30 minute lunch.

Teachers around the country need to take a day/week off to demand better compensation and improved working conditions. Now is NOT a good time to become or be a teacher.

Yes! It’s so important to build sustainable systems - if there’s no way to have classes covered and time for teachers to plan, then the system is not sustainable, even if it’s “normal.”

Is this common amongst all of the schools in your district? Our principal always says mandates are from central office and his hands are tied. How do you combat that?
