@coachcg_dxb: Explaining how the SSC works to deliver a powerful blow for Boxing & MMA What is the SSC? The stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) refers to the ‘pre-stretch’ or ‘countermovement’ action that is seen during jumping and other tasks. If we take 2 jumps, that to most may look very similar, but they have one key difference: 1. Countermovement Jump (CMJ) — Utilises the SSC 2. Squat Jump (SJ) - SSC is dissipated and jump carried out With the Countermovement Jump (CMJ) due to the eccentric loading phase (down phase) you get a rapid stretch (Think of this like pulling on an elastic band or spring like mechanism) and providing you are adequately pre-activating the system then an ‘increased’ propulsive phase (concentric contraction) should follow (power). #boxing #kopunch #powertraining #boxingtraining #mma #ssc #plyometrics #deadlift #strengthandconditioning #Fitness #gym
