@thegentlebarn: Rescued from a backyard butcher, where the animals were living in horrific conditions, sweet Athena is now celebrating 12 years in sanctuary at The Gentle Barn CA. Athena and dozens of other cows, horses, sheep, and goats were brought to us by local animal control after the butcher was shut down. Athena was sick, riddled with parasites, covered in scars, and terrified of humans. Once her body recovered, she learned not only that she was safe, but also how to be an amazing cow ambassador.
