The series of agreements marked the end of almost a thousand years of intermittent conflict between the two colonial nations. British soldiers took part in celebrations at the Elysee Palace in #Paris and their French counterparts did the same at Buckingham Palace to commemorate the moment. In 1960 the UN declared colonial rule a violation of human rights.
