@pbsnews: Spectators in Carbondale, Illinois, were treated to a spectacular show as a total solar eclipse passed over Monday afternoon. Totality was scheduled to begin around 2 p.m. Eastern, according to NASA. The city was also in the path of totality for the 2017 total solar eclipse. Thousands of people gathered at the Southern Illinois University's Saluki Stadium to view the eclipse. Commentators on NASA's live-streamed coverage were also excited by the views of the eclipse. The next total solar eclipse in the U.S. will take place in 2044. #solareclipse #totalsolareclipse #eclipse #pathoftotality #nasa #pbsnews #newshour #pbsnewshour
