@primadonnabri_: I was born and raised in the church (pastors grandchild). I’ve never known a life where I did not go to church. I could quote scriptures and tell you all the Bible stories. I was baptized at around 9 years old. But truthfully He was the God of my parents and grandparents. It wasn’t until I went through a teen pregnancy, heart break, betrayal, single motherhood, diagnosed anxiety, depression, and loneliness, amongst other things that I realized that I could not use my proximity to God through my family to get me through those things. I had to lean in to God and let Him become MY God. I certainly never stopped believing in Him, but I did not trust Him with my future or my purpose. Despite all these things, God still left the 99 to chase after me, the 1. God brought me unexplainable peace in situations where I should have lost my mind. God defended me in situations where I was wronged. God gracefully broke me and disciplined me. God restored what the enemy tried to take from me. It is because of God‘s grace and mercy that I am alive today. For that reason I was baptized again to express my new life in Christ. I hope to one day tell my full testimony. Just know MY God did not fail. Having my son right behind me as I was baptized was the example I hope to set for him in his own personal walk with Christ.
