2 years later and I still love the stairs. We did have to top up the paint on the treads after we had renovation work completed upstairs which created a lot of dust and general mess, as expected for such a project! The bannisters and white paint haven’t been topped up but might need cleaning followed by a coat within the next year. The general maintenance of the stairs is relatively easy as a quick coat only takes about 30 minutes of work followed by a few hours to dry, so if you time it before going out then that’s ideal. FAQs: Is it hard to keep clean as dust shows up more easily on black surfaces? This is definitely the case but I find it really quick and easy to run a feather duster over the staircase. Anything more gritty just gets hoovered up at the bottom of the stairs after dusting and swiping any grit downwards. Is it suitable for kids and pets? We keep it in good condition by not wearing shoes and it’s just us 2 adults. We just had a baby and I don’t have any concerns (yet) and we do plan on getting a dog someday but our plan is to keep them downstairs. I use wet wipes on the stairs if I spot a mark on them and that works well. Are they slippery? Nope! We don’t wear shoes on them and we’ve never slipped in socks or bare feet. Are they noisy? Not if you’re in socks.
