@barefoot___wanderer: It’s been 6 weeks now since… I decided to do my own house foundations 🏠 As an owner builder the only jobs I am not allowed to do are the plumbing and electrical, however the foundations for my house is a job I had originally wanted to contract out due to its importance. ⚒️ However with my budget only being 100k for my entire house build and getting quotes back all around the 60k mark for the house foundations alone there was just no other way than to do it myself. 🤷‍♀️ But wow it’s been a massive surprise to me how much is involved in the process, in my mind digging holes would be one of the simplest parts of the whole job however it has turned out to be the hardest and most time consuming ⌛️ This is because my soil type is rock hard clay so even a digger struggled with the job, it wasn’t until I found a cheap jack hammer on marketplace that the game changed and digging the holes became more ‘do-able’ 🚜 The majority of the six weeks that I’ve been working on the foundations has been dedicated to digging and that leads into my question. 🙋 What’s your opinion? ⬇️ Do you think it’s worth saving 9/10 of the quoted cost to complete my foundations, even though it’s taking 2-3x the amount of time? 🤷‍♀️ #homebuildbudget #ownerbuilder #containerhome #housefoundations #solobuild #DIY
