They’re both right since they’re talking about two different things entirely. You can be intrigued by an art without knowing the artist and get a message from it because arts are ambiguous. (1)

Art doesn’t need the artist to make the statement. The observer can invent their own speaker. Could be humanity as a whole, someone they know, or even themselves

it could be said they are to different forms of language one is past and one is present. a speaker giving a speech is subjective to time of which is said. thus a revolutionary may twist the words
