Kaiseki is good but I think some of the dishes are the kind of dishes that you have to grow up with to really appreciate fully.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I like it but grew up w more traditional J cooking. I tell people "J food is bland & it's on purpose" & catch hell. Texture, seasonality, ingredient quality

honestly same. besides the hype foods like tempura, some desserts, and ramen, I have a preference for other Asian cuisines.

I am the opposite btw. I hate oily foods, too salty, and strong flavored foods 😂 i cannot even finish a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. But need to gulp it down to avoid food waste 😂

I had vegetarian kaiseki in kyoto and I thought it was really yummy. most of the items were tofu based and I love tofu 😂

Kaiseki is interesting and good. But I definitely some of the dishes can be a bit unpleasant if you’re not used to the flavor and texture.
