@abbeyskitchen: Celebrating with food is normal, but when food is only used to reward (or witheld to punish), it can become a recipe for a dysfunctional relationship with food. #brittanysnow #callherdaddy @Call Her Daddy #dietculture #antidiet

It's so hard NOT to use food as a reward as a Mom but I love this balanced take.

Please make a video about "all in" recovery. Will it result in obesity? Will my metabolism speed up?

Something I have been working on is not feeling like I HAVE to finish my plate when I feel full

Something I try is to not make sweets a big deal. When my daughter goes to school I put a little sweet treat in her lunch and 90% of the time it comes back home with us because she didn’t finish it.

if my kid wants a snack while dinner is cooking, I let her pick from her box. or if she wants ice cream first, I'll allow it but she has to have something different after her meal, she gets the option

I was working with a dietician as part of PPD treatment and I asked about reward meals. She said “You’re not a dog. A ‘treat’ is not a reward. Everything in moderation.”

My kid's pediatrician once told me kids are born with an on/off switch built-in. So let them eat when they're hungry and don't force them to eat when they're not. Now I have almost grown teenagers...

I grew up with the clean plate club and it messed me up. I started my kiddo out with BLW (@Feeding Littles) and he is now seven and has such a good food relationship. people are always coming up to me

Using food as a reward is basically training yourself or someone else like you would a dog

We’re entering our time to have kiddos and I’m very excited to incorporate meals with my little fam bam. I’ll do everything to keep food as just food. Delicious things we eat

Abbey, please stop speeding up videos when you duet/stitch with another one. I’m deaf and read captions, and it’s REALLY hard to keep up reading on a sped-up video.

For kids who just want the ice cream and barely eat their dinner, we do "thank you bites" where we ask them to take x amount of bites (usually the same # as their age) so they can say "thank you" 1/2

I put sweet & savoury foods together. They often go back for the non ‘treat’ food. & try to make rewards activities like go to the park, choose a story/film. Hoping these help them as the get older 🤞

Sometimes I do use food as a reward, but more like I eat something I really like after I’ve done something, no matter how it went bc I struggle with motivation for visits to the dr etc

Food as reward and punishment combined with demonizing some foods and making other things “special” is so damaging and so common
