It actually does matter my gas doesn’t go over 3k rpm with 87 and it struggles to get up to speed but w premium does it like nothing

The myth is you dont need to put premium gas if the manufacturer suggest lower tier gas is enough. It wont add performance by going premium.

my old e350 said premium, I put 87 for the longest time and premium, there was literally no difference

The great news is all modern engines can adjust on the fly with no issues. If you are track racing the. Yes. Daily then won’t make a difference engine will be fine

you can put lower octane gas. but you cant exceed 3k rpm.

@mercedesbenzusa It has come to my attention that Mercedes-Benz USA routinely fuels their loaner vehicles with 87-octane gasoline. I previously purchased a loaner vehicle from the company, and within six months it developed two cylinder misfires. It is therefore concerning that customers are instructed to use 93-octane fuel, while the company does not consistently adhere to this standard in its own operations. I have called several dealerships throughout the country and they all said the same. Massachusetts does 87 as well as Los Angeles. Scottsdale Arizona is doing 84.
