White tie also can mean: women can have shoulders OR elbows bare, but not both- hence the opera length gloves, covering her elbows, and no shoulder wrap. 💜

our wedding (wife&me) was white tie. all the gents in tailcoats👌 except my brother in law. he wore his military dress uniform,which is acceptable for active servicemembers in lieu of white tie.

If I could afford to dress all my guests I’d be seriously tempted to have a white tie wedding. But I’d never be comfortable asking all my guests to get white tie attire, even rented, just for me.
