In BC there is only one provider for vehicle insurance and that the Insurance corp of BC. It’s an organization that is difficult to deal with because you can’t go anywhere else.

I thought you cannot sue ICBC but you can legally file a civil suit against the driver? And why do you need a criminal conviction to pursue a civil law suit?

No no, money is not justice nor would the driver be able to pay regardless. The fault is with the system where someone can kill another and face no penalty. Money is not a penalty

We can be appalled by the lack of a criminal conviction here. The law limiting civil suits was to save the rate payers money due to lawyers taking icbc cases in contingency to make money frivolously.
