I worked for a thrift store that sold used books. We had several customers who would buy a 50-99 cent book, read it, then return it and get another book. Like, weekly.

When I was in college a coworker processed a return for unopened underwear purchased over 40 yrs ago for 35 cents a package. Back when JCPenney was named the Golden Rule Store.
