@sarah0utside: I'm posting this for full backpacking transparency. Does anyone else have the same problem/ situation #backpackinghealth #travelfail #travelhealth #backpackinglife
Also most travel insurance is nulled if you don’t disclose a medical condition like depression but when you do it triples in price and won’t cover treatment of the illness either 😭

I’m a pharmacist in the Uk currently travelling and people taking meds also need to check the customs rules for the quantity allowed when entering countries as it may be capped or require a Drs note

Starting 6 months is SE Asia in January, doctor has given three months which I could make stretch if I take one every two days which isn’t ideal. Lots of different views on quantity allowed in customs

alot of uk gp only give you month at time regardless, i didnt need meds while travelling but have used in past. Apparently the risk of OD when not regularly being seen is reason 🙄

Well this has changed my whole plan to get my pill. Was gonna go to the docs and ask them to give me more because I’m going abroad but won’t do that now 😳 thanks for sharing!

Check what the country allows. My prescription is banned in Japan but my doctor gave me 2 months. Wrote a letter that Japan required and I got permission in advance from Japan. I had to declare them

Ahh they must have changed it, I went abroad for a year for uni and the gem of a doctor I had gave me the whole years worth of the pill and beta blockers in 2018. She was the best

why would they decrease the time if you are going abroad? seems like you'd need more, not less

Why not just stockpile all the medication when you’re in a big city? Go from pharmacy to pharmacy getting one month each or forge a doctors note for a 6 month prescription. Just an idea

crazy!! youd think the uk doctors would want you to have your prescription? i had to lie in uk and say I’d ‘lost’ my repeat prescription so they’d give me a more months worth to cover me for my trip!

Oh well - an inconvenience while having the luxury to travel for 6 months. Swings and roundabouts.

Going into a pharmacy and saying ‘I’m a doctor and need this’ has worked perfectly so far lol
