@hedgerow_healing: 💛 Cowslips 💛 How many of us pass by plants and flowers without ever truly knowing their hidden tales or medicinal value? It's amazing how many legends are attached to almost every native plant, and how these once commonly known legends are now becoming unique and forgotten knowledge. Cowslips are currently littering the hedgerows and fields of the UK, and as I was watching them dance in the garden I was reminded about their rich folkloric past. As part of the primrose family, you would of course expect cowslips to be linked with the faeries somehow! In fact Shakespear loved the cowslip flower so much he included it in a Midsummer Nights Dream, a play famously involving the fae folk. "And I serve the Fairy Queen To dew her orbs upon the green. The cowslips tall her pensioners be. In their gold coats spots you see; Those be rubies, fairy favours; In those freckles live their savours. I must go seek some dewdrops here, And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear."
