Not with Wella or Kenra. 20 volume is 1 level and so on. And that 3-7 is so not true. Use a high level color with 20 volume. You will for sure get to a level 7 or 8. Universal law if lift.

Really depends on the colour line, I’ve worked with davines for over 10 years and 10vol is a deposit. 20vol 1 level lift, so on so forth.

You need more alkalinity to lighten from a 1 to a 4, not 40 vol. Developer has no ability to lighten, it’s acidic.
