when i've asked, it's been dodged. sometimes i've been told later that it was bc i'm chronically ill but no one wants to say that. when i've been asked, i give an honest, brief, not unkind answer.

I would say you can but in my experience if someone is asking for a reason it’s so they can try and debate you back into the relationship so for me I would engage in such a conversation

I actually refused to tell an ex why I was breaking up with him because the actual reason was he was dumb and I actually couldn’t come up with a good enough excuse. 😭
