Just finishing a probate in BC, find a smaller court registry, Chilliwack court completed in 2 months, Surrey would have been closer to a year

Also very important whoever the next of kin is, to inform the insurance company of the property to inform them. Risk needs to be reviewed especially if the property is no longer occupied and vacant.

better to have power of attorney and sell all property and move money before they pass( if possible) that way the government doesn't get a fuckin dime

my dad's lawyer suggested using my POA to transfer everything over to both mine and my brothers name before he died to avoid probate and save $$. bank was notified but they dropped the ball...

There are certain scenarios where you dont need probate like if the property falls under first dealings but yes absolutely so many people don’t know about having to probate the estate to list a house!
