My DM added an optional ability for martials where you don’t make an attack roll, but the target makes a dex save. Perfect for heavily armored foes.

My DM did this to us, we got lucky and our first attack was terrible so we figured it out quickly, cue all of us asking to roll with disadvantage so we had a chance to hit him.

I love doing this with Gelatinous Cubes when my party starts feeling cocky around lvl 4/5. Having ones only damagable by cantrips or unarmed attacks is also fun :3

I tried this by letting 1, 2, 3 and 4 be a hit..... all players had at least a +5 to hit 😅 NEVER HIT A THING

I recently ran a golem that could only be hit on even rolls. the party heard the phrase "the odds are against you" multiple times before the encounter. they were not happy when a 6 hit but a 23 didn't
