@reagainz: ANGLES📐⬇️ Disclaimer: 1. This is what I do (not every time, but a lot of the time), and it has worked for me. Everyone is different! 2. This demo is overdramaticized for you to see a clear difference. Moving on…. You're taught to angle your chest toward home plate to block the ball on/close to the plate. Why not use the same concept with framing? Using our body to “move” pitch limits our glove movement - in which I'd argue that most umpires are watching the glove over the body. (Framing is real… don't come at me people.) We are also not actually moving the pitch itself; we are just manipulating our angle to create deception. Does anyone else do this and find success within it?

If the umpire adjusts with you, doesn’t that put them in a poorer position to see the zone?

wouldn’t these angles give the umpire a better reason to call a ball, tried it plenty, don’t work.

As an umpire, I like this because is does give a clearer view of the plate. As a catching coach, I like angles better than framing. Too many catchers (not at major league velo) frame too much. As a catcher, tilting the right side of the plate against the body looks to limit range on tailing pitches to the outside. Would definitely need a lot of practice. Thanks for the share.

Not a good idea to leave the umpire wide open and exposed. First time he takes a pitch to the body, you get no more close calls!

MLB stats show the BEST way to frame is to sit middle of the plate. You can shade left or right, but anymore costs you strikes
