when my mom passed I didn't have to get her embalmed bc we did a direct cremation. that saved us so much money especially as she didn't have life insurance.

My mother was Catholic so she was embalmed and my dad was Muslim so he was not embalmed. To me, I don’t think one is better or worse than the other. Seeing a parent in that state is still traumatic.
