@heydrhelene: SAVE THIS POST 🚨 Just finished my oral emergency medicine boards and I’m so excited. This marks the absolute last board exam I ever have to take. Once I find out my results I’ll officially have made it to the finish line and will be able to say I’m board certified in emergency medicine. This was a 10+ year journey to get here!! Can you imagine? I’ve taken countless exams including the MCAT, numerous school exams, in training exams, United States Medical Licensing Exam parts 1, 2, 3a, 3b, and a computer board exam to get here. I’ve spent about 10 stacks of money I didn’t even have just to take these exams!! 🤡 And some people have the audacity to say disparities in medicine don’t exist?? So, the oral boards is basically an exam testing you on if you can appropriately take care of patients in a clinical setting. SWIPE 👉🏾👉🏾 to see a sample (sped up) case that me and one of my study partners did. It would typically go like this and you’re allowed to write things down on a paper which I have examples of too. I used this Okuda book which I recommend. I think the management on some cases is outdated, so I’d take it with a grain of salt. Otherwise, I did all 126 cases in the book with the majority being with a partner which is so helpful. Not all specialties have to do an oral board, but emergency medicine is one of them. I’m thankful that we no longer have to travel to a random hotel in Chicago (like in Grey’s Anatomy iykyk) to take this in person because that would have been even more $$.
