This is what i think. He clearly loves her. But he feels like he doesn’t deserve her and he thinks letting go of the relationship will be the best for her. She never had any other relationship experience and she could have anyone. He must feel like after all these years, she keeps crying hurting bcs of his attitude/actions but he doesn’t know how to not be himself and he’s not confident he won’t hurt her again..when she deserves so much better.. maybe he feels so small n undeserving of her so he’s being stern on purpose so that she would try something/someone new… he thinks to love is to let go. but then they realises after dating others contestant with so many other possibilities and futures.. they still wanted each other.
