Muddy Ornaments. Back in early December, our hub was closed for the day. We were out doing wellness checks in our community. I walked up to a familiar face that I’ve seen at Vally Strong Disaster Relief getting supplies several times since the storm. While seeing him there in the past, I never asked his story. It’s none of my business. Many people that come through our hub have a look in their eyes, and they can tell you their story without saying a word. But this man has always had a smile. That day I was exactly where I was supposed to be. And that just so happened to be on his property by the river. He poured his heart out to me. He told me his story about the wicked day of September 27th. He showed me around his land. He took me into his once beautiful home that they worked so hard to make theirs. He showed me his camper that was donated to him and his family of 4 that they are living in. He introduced me to his wife and daughters. He told me about his baby that was on the way, but didn’t have a heartbeat anymore a couple weeks after the storm. He introduced me to his dog “River”. Who is only 4 months old. Finally, before I left, he took me to the far end of his property to a storage shed that made it through the storm. The only time the man cried is when he started telling me about his wife’s Christmas ornament business and how they’ve worked so hard on it over the years. Tears were streaming down his face as he was telling me he how they have missed the busy season, and won’t be able to sell ornaments this year. There are times in life that we are placed exactly where you’re supposed to be. December 5th was that day for me. Since them we’ve been tirelessly working on building them a brand new website to get their ornament business going before Christmas. Today is that day. I’m 9 days later than I was shooting for. But just like this family walked in to my life at the perfect time, I hope that their ornaments do the same for you. Their links will be in the comments. Merry Christmas. xpressornaments.com #wnc
