Slice highlights are basically taking a straight slice of hair (no weaving) in a foil for a bold ribbon of color. The result? High-contrast, head-turning pops of brightness with just a few foils. It’s one of eight foil highlight techniques every hair colorist should know, and each one creates a totally different vibe! 🙌 Chunky highlights – Those thick, throwback ’90s pieces for major statement vibes. Traditional weave – The classic go-to foiling method for soft, blended dimension. Babylights – Ultra-fine little highlights for a sun-kissed look and super natural grow-out. Microlights – Even tinier than babylights (yes, it’s possible!) for the most delicate shimmer of color. Combination – Mixing multiple techniques in one head for a custom, multi-dimensional look. Zigzag highlights – Sections in a zigzag pattern to diffuse harsh lines and add softness to the blend. The Manelli Method – My signature no-tease, no-shadow-root foilayage technique for seamless, sun-kissed blends with bold ends. 😉✨ (I’m teaching this one BTW at my hands on workshop in Pasadena, CA) And here’s the kicker: placement matters just as much as technique! The way you position those foils can make or break how your highlights flow and blend. (Ever seen highlights that look stripey? Proper placement fixes that!👍) Want to see all these techniques in action? 🎥 I demo all 8 in my latest YouTube video and break them down on the blog – check out the link in bio to watch and read the full scoop. If you’re ready to level up even further, Hair B&B University has your back with in-depth tutorials and insider tips on mastering both technique and placement. 💕 Which highlight technique are you most excited to try next? Let me know below!👇🏽 #slicehighlights #foilhighlights #haireducation #hairtips #cosmetologystudent #hairstylist #behindthechair #hairbnbuniversity
