Magnesium is needed in the soil to help with calcium absorption for the tomatoes. Adding a few ounces of Epsom salt before planting is so much easier.

ok, BER is caused by poor watering practices not a lack of calcium in the soil. Drought causes a deficient nutrient uptake. most soils have sufficient calcium in them.
