Guys only because japanese has 500 counters, that doesn't mean they actually use all of them. They mainly use around 20-40 counters. So no need to get stressed over that.

Shi is apparently becoming rarer and rarer as the 4 because of its association with death and is often replaced with yon. 7 is often now nana for the same reason.

would it be more like how in spanish we say cabacita for "small" head, cabeza as neutral, and cabezón as "big" head? Like ik they take other meanings but is that a better comparison?
