I did same but I also drill a hole in the middle and put some dime size magnets in drilled hole to hold staples in place

Epoxy a magnet in the bottom of the groove. Staple will stick. Groove may have to be a bit deeper.

Don’t you have to bend over to put the pins in as far as they currently are? See @Steve comment! We use a specific rod with a magnet for this very purpose! Way easy, no bending whatsoever!

They make a 3point attachment that puts the fabric down and rolls dirt on the edges so you don’t have to use pins. Just have to get off the tractor to cut the ends.
