In most leases, the landlord has to replace the carpet every 5 years for free. Maybe they can just install hardwood for long term cost savings!!

depending on where you live and the landlord and lease etc... you should ask them to replace the carpet. where I live after I think 5 years or something like that carpets are supposed to be swapped

in Australia in some states, when renting legally the owners legally have to replace the carpet every 5-7 years

From where i come from we don’t cover the stairs with carpets.. much easier to sweep and clean every now and then than this. Plus we don’t wear street shoes inside the house
