Both sides of this are valid to me. Also, it never says what this relationship is. This could be an acquaintance or not a friend. Compassion and empathy are important, so is self awareness.

Ngl this is why I have separate friend groups, one w kids and one w/o. I try to make a conscious effort not to mix the two unless directly asked & then keep it simple.
