Used a 3rd party battery in my A7siii and it just emptied/turned off for good mid shoot. Original Sony's from here on

Depends on what you mean by unsafe. I've never heard of anyone actually frying a camera with a third party battery, but poorly manufactured batteries are more likely to swell. In extremely rare cases, bad lithium batteries can ignite. I use 3rd party batteries, but I get rid of them at the first sign of swelling.

I use them no issues but Sony nerfs the battery level so you cannot see the level. You can go into preview photos and see the level at that point. Also if you have the app the battery level shows

third party batt are safe but suck. they always bloated and only last 1-2 years while genuine batt last much much longer.

I bought like 10 NP-FW50 for my 6400, all third party because I wouldn’t pay 50€ for that battery. They all broke in less than a year. Learned my lesson. I only buy original batteries for my a7IV.
