I work for a private company (not publicly traded) and I have a pension. I love my work, great benefits and pay, and I am keenly aware a pension is a unicorn benefit.

Every time my husband changed jobs he went up about 15% he changed jobs a lot. His old employers would offer more money but he felt they should have to begin with. And he just took his 401k with him

100% but it’s even deeper than pensions. The more purchasing power erodes due to inflation the more you need to make just to stay ahead because your money is worth less every year

I do feel like people are leaving jobs and there’s no jobs for them to go to so it’s definitely worth saying that you shouldn’t leave your current job without having an offer from another company

OK so going on my memory, Pension= security UNTIL. 401K. was supposed to give the individual the choice. Except the language is hard to follow and you can loose big .

I had a baby pension while working as a nurse at my old hospital but it would never be enough to live on. Was able to cash it out since I’d been there so many years and it’s now invested.

"What's a pension?" OMG that's terrible. Employers are off the hook for your retirment. All the risk is on YOU now. Invest for your own retirement.
