🆘 The South LA shelter is over capacity which means they are alerting dogs for space again! This also means that good dogs like sweet senior DR. PEPPER will lose their lives if they show even the slightest kennel stress behavior, regardless if the vast majority of their notes are overwhelmingly positive. 💔 This sweet senior dies MON, 8AM unless adopted, fostered or rescued by 5PM on Sunday 10/18 as the shelter is closed to the public on Mondays. He needs an adopter, foster or rescue. Believe it or not, this baby faced boy is a senior dog at 8 years old. He arrived in late July as an owner surrender (displaced due to “no home”). His previous owner left great notes stating that Dr. Pepper was house broken, well mannered when left alone, friendly around strangers, good with kids and good with other dogs. DR. PEPPER is adored by his handlers at the shelter, receiving only positive reports from volunteers and the shelter groomer. He’s also been doing well in shelter playgroup (tolerant of other dogs with a gentle dainty play style). His one negative behavior note came from a supervisor who did rounds on 10/9 and noted that when he placed his hand near the front of Dr. Pepper’s kennel, our friend began to growl, bark, bare his teeth, and snap at the hand. This good boy has never done that with the people who actually take him out of his kennel and interact with him (namely playgroup runners, volunteers, and the shelter groomer). To judge and euth list Dr. Pepper based solely on this one, brief moment is beyond frustrating and heartbreaking. If you can help this sweet & loving senior, please go to the South LA shelter and meet him for yourself. DR.
