@vanessamunley0: your body should be able to move to it's fullest natural extent. stiffness, soreness, weakness, and pain comes from the lack of stretching and movement. over training can also cause pain but most people do not over stretch or over move so that's not that relevant.
well luckily I know my knee problem is from flying 20 feet forward and on to my knees and then a year later having one stretched to the point it pulled ligaments.
