I do suffer with coldsores I have about 2 a year is it ok to kiss my newborn when I don't have a flare up? I worry about this I'm due my baby in August

I get cold sores and I have had so much anxiety about kissing my newborn baby. I think I may have kissed her a couple times because I’m so scared that I’m gonna get her sick.

about 2 months ago my oldest and I got a cold. My nose were runny & I kept sneezing, sore throat. my baby was 4 months old and full bf. I was scared I might infect him. But he didn't get sick at all🥰

If the mum is also near the dad and kissing dad then it’s not an issue for dad to kiss baby because all the germs are being shared around

ill buy the baby's saliva informing what the breast milk needs, but the moms mouth and nose feels like a stretch. i cant find any studies on this but id be interested

Im a midwife and would never tell dad not to kiss their baby. They will be going home and sharing these germs anyway. Other people, definitely. Hand hygiene etc. Also not everyone BFs.
