Father’s Day has always been a heavy one for me. Since losing my dad, it’s been a day I’ve quietly carried — more about missing him than celebrating. He was my safe place, my hero… and his absence still echoes loudly on days like this. But this year… it feels different. This year, someone new is in our lives. It’s still early days, but already he’s brought so much love, joy, and laughter into our world. He’s been incredible with the kids — especially Savannah, Caenaan and our bonus daughter Mindy! Whether he’s goofing around, roped into TikToks, playing music, or just being present in quiet everyday moments, he’s given us something we didn’t realize we were missing, he’s completed our puzzle. Today, we watched him drive 8 hours after a week of 12hr shifts ending at midnight last night, to be with his daughter, — to remind her how deeply she’s loved. To show up, even when it’s hard. That kind of love, that kind of commitment… it’s something to be proud of. And we are. So, so proud of him. He’s a father to two daughters — one who is sadly no longer here — and the strength and tenderness he carries as a dad is truly something special. Watching him today reminded me what real fatherhood looks like: showing up, giving your heart, and loving fiercely. And this year… it was really nice to have someone to do Father’s Day for. To make a card, to say thank you, to celebrate. To have someone who deserves to be honored on this day. For the kids and for me — that meant everything. He’s not here to replace anyone. He’s not trying to fill someone else’s shoes. But in such a short time, he’s stepped into our lives and become a male role model my kids admire, trust, and feel safe with. That’s a gift I’ll never take for granted. To my own dad — I miss you every single day. Your love shaped me. And to this incredible man — thank you for the way you love, lead, and light up our lives.
