@russ: The beat making process is way easier when I already have the whole song concept because then I’m just reverse engineering what I think the song should sound like. This beat was really about texture and feeling. I wanted sexy instruments and melodies. The flute is airy and seductive. The tip toe pluck instrument is precarious and reminds me of the sexual tension in the air that exists sometimes. The 808 has a certain growl and wildness to it that really captured the unhinged energy of the lyrics. I had the pluck and 808 turned up in the mix at first but I decided that it was more important to feel them instead of hear them. All in all rarely do I have the song concept prior to making the beat but when I do it’s super fun to start solving the puzzle. Hope yall enjoy 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
