with direct dye applications of thermal compound you want to make sure ALL of the dye is covered in thermal paste don't leave it up to chance.

with my future upgrade to am5 I don't think I need to delid a cpu which rarely reaches above 100W during gaming even with that thicker ihs chosen by amd which slows the heat transfer

Some people hate this hack but if you just put it in the microwave oven on high for 5minutes, the back pressure builds up from the trapped oxygen and pops off naturally. CPU won't work after though.

Pointless doing it to replace the thermal material with new paste, liquid metal is the only "sensible" option.
