🚨 Big news for parents! 🚨 From January, the MMRV vaccine (protecting against measles, mumps, rubella AND chickenpox) will be rolled out on the NHS for free, no more paying £150 at private clinics!!! Here’s what parents need to know 👇🏽 🍼 New Routine Schedule (from 1 January 2026) ❗️Babies turning 1 year old in 2026 will start the two-dose schedule (12 & 18 months). ❗️Toddlers already 18 months–2.5 years old in Jan 2026 will be called for catch-up. These catch-up jabs will run from January to October 2026. WHAT else do you need to know? ✅ potential for catch-up jabs for children up to 11 years old ✅ Reduced cases, complications & NHS pressure ✅ Fewer hospital admissions & healthier kids ✅ Based on successful programmes in the US, Germany & more ✅ Backed by expert advice (JCVI) ✅ Already successful in the US, Canada & Germany ✅ No evidence this will increase shingles rates (JCVI-reviewed) which is why it was originally not recommended Many other countries, Australia, US Germany and European ones have successfully introduced the varicella vaccination into their vaccination programmes, leading to sharp declines in hospitalisations and severe cases of chickenpox without an increase is shingles. We have over 30y of evidence now which is reassuring! Using a combined vaccine for both the first and second dose would mean that fewer injections would need to be given in a single immunisation visit! Parents will be contacted by GP surgeries when their child is eligible. This is the first new childhood vaccine added since MenB in 2015 — a huge step for protecting our little ones. 💙 Clinical Guidance will be released shortly and we can share more then! Do you have any questions? #Chickenpox #MMRV #NHS #ParentingUK #ChildHealth #ᴠᴀᴄᴄɪɴᴇssᴀᴠᴇʟɪᴠᴇs
