growing up I would get called "carrot top" and always would pretend to brush it off. I finally came home crying. my mom told me next time "tell them that carrot tops are green". they stopped, lol

My son was teased because he had big ears.. I taught him to respond to his bullies.. “The better to hear you with my dear”.. it stopped..

I talked to my son about this. Today after school, he told me that he took my advice. After someone was making fun of his hair, he responded with “you’re a tape dispenser.” 😂

I play a similar game with the kids at work where we call each other random silly stuff. "You're a flower", "you're a leaf." The rules of the game are it has to be random not mean.

as a kid I got "you're so weird." I never really had a response then. now, when I occasionally get "you're so weird" or similar my response is to look at them, slow blink, "...and?". weird is fun 😁

My mom tells me that when I first got glasses, I was called four-eyes. I apparently thanked him and told him that I am better than him because 4 is bigger than 2.

I totally did that in the 5th grade in 1985, some kids were calling me 5 footer I informed them that I was 5 foot 3 inches. Shut them right up!

The best response is to show them it doesn't bother you. They only do it to get a response, but if they're not getting that response it is no longer entertaining for them.

I prefer, "What was your intention behind that comment."
holds a mirror up to them and they rarely have anything to reply with

Also, I guess it creates some association in the brain "they say something not true, I say something not true", so the insults don't stick too much? as a result, they won't care at all?

my family uses this when we are getting upset at another family member. lol. it can help break up your focus on being angry and gives everyone a laugh.

I’d love to know how to deal with my kiddo who used to be bullied and is now exhibiting some red flag behaviours (I think at the behest of another kid)?

I’ve taught my daughter to ‘do is your face’ in a bland uninterested tone. Just keep repeating that to all they say. Confuzzles people 😂
