@itsmarianova: 6 ingredient bone broth… Bone broth has to be one of my favourite warming drinks out there! It is full of healthy vitamins and minerals that help to reduce inflammation in your body and line your gut. Ingredients; - a bag of any bones: I used beef, but you can use chicken bones - 1 carrot - 1 onion - 3 garlics - Any other vegetables you like (you can add parsnip, celery, capsicum, tomato, etc.,) - 6 tsp of salt Directions; - roast your bones and veggies @ 180°C for approximately 45 minutes (I turned the oven off after 45 minutes and let it sit for 30 minutes) - Once roasted, add them to a slow cooker or pot then add enough water to completely cover the bones and vegetables - In a slow cooker, let it cook for about 10-12 hours on low heat - On the stove you will want to let it get to a boil, then turn down the heat so it is on a very light simmer for approximately 5-6 hours (this will require more water than a slow cooker, so ensure you continue to add water to it) - Once completed, put the broth through a strainer to get rid of the bone and vegetable discards - Pour into a pot and let it rest in the fridge - you will notice that a layer of fat forms on the top after a few hours. I would highly suggest removing this, as sometimes the fat detracts from the taste (keep the fat, as this is perfect to use for pan frying) - Then store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze (it can keep for 3-4 months safely in the freezer) I hope you try and love this recipe 🤍

not that I wanna eat the fat but I thought the fat would be the most collagen rich part? is that wrong?

I tried making bone broth in my slow cooker and wasn't happy with it, put it on the stove on low for 24-48 hours absolute bliss

I think adding ACV helps draw the collagen out of the bones too…

Or you can just add gelatine powder or sachets because they are 100% collagen

I save my vegetable scraps in the freezer so I don’t have to buy veggies for the sole purpose of making broth

Completely optional, but I recommend adding some bayleaf, thyme, rosemary, a few whole peppercorns, and a couple of cloves of garlic (which u can roast with the veg & bones). Food 4 thought..

Do you ever re-use your bones for another round of bone broth or are they one-and-done?
