I also wonder about why so many in Essex and London do not pronounce the “th” sound. So, they may say Feo rather than Theo, free not three.

It must be noted that this is not the same as 'I were' or he/she/it were which is an archaic use of the subjunctive, most notably used in the phrase "if I were you".
