The finish on rain jackets that actually makes them waterproof can be diminished by washing, crumpling, or heat! I always recommend getting tent waterproofing spray to re-seal them.

You need to keep an eye on the level of water resistance. 5k-10k: light rain. 10k-15k: medium rain. 15k-20k: heavy rain. 20k+: extremely heavy rain.

You don't have to fork out a lot for a good rain jacket. Just remember the difference between water resistant vs water proof and always check that it's seam sealed!

If it’s humid or you’re sweating a lot, often rain jackets start getting soaked through because of how the memberane transfers moisture

Every once in awhile wash it with the waterproofing detergent! It’ll help it last longer! Nikwax waterproofing!

North face is the best. My grandpa was a BIG hiker and he got his jacket 30yrs ago. He now have it to me when I started hiking and it’s still AMAZING

Once the water starts soaking in means you need to re-treat your jacket. Most rain jackets need this done as maitenence. Nikwax sells a wash in waterproofer.

Columbia Out-Dry, have pants and jacket. I’ve worn them while power washing, even laid down on the floor at the carwash to wash the bottom of my truck. Absolutely dry.
