I started to panic a little when I got asked that. And said it’s when two people can be open with each other and talk and not be judged. Someone you can trust. And then went on to explain that many

I’m allistic and I don’t think you’re wrong! I would also add, having shared values and interests and enjoying each other’s company or similar activities. Having easy and enjoyable conversations too

i feel like our definition could be a little too deep for what is “standard.” which is why i can come off as intense or “crushing” when i DO initiate a friendship

I actually know this one! (I'm adhd, not autistic) - friends are the people you like/love and enjoy spending time with, who also feel the same way about you/spending time with you

I never questioned it before - for me it’s a person I love, support and want to spend time with! Hope it helps

I think maybe you confused being kind with being friends? I did that a lot as a kid and called a lot of people friends just because they weren't mean to me.

So based on britannica’s definition on friends (a state of enduring affection, esteem, intimacy, and trust), I guess the issue they had was that you were focusing on beliefs and not the affection.

I think you completely missed to mention emotional part of friendship and that's what was wrong? Maybe I'm not sure.

My answer was it’s the people who actively choose/want to spend their precious free time with you and genuinely care about your wellbeing, etc. Hard-learned lessons/epiphanies there.
