That would be a lot of stress on the stitching of the loops on the side, especially when they are ultimately only there to hold the belt in place.

Clever yes, but with a real leather belt it’ll ruin it after one time of doing this. Buy buckle-less belts they snap in the front and can be extended or made smaller as needed! 😁
